CITY Center for Collaborative Learning is a national affiliate of the School Reform Initiative (SRI) and our school founders & principals and many of our teachers have been trained in the SRI ‘Critical Friendship’ model for professional learning communities. All of our teachers participate in monthly, two-hour meetings facilitated by fellow teachers who have been trained in the SRI model.
There are hundreds of trained facilitators nationally and every year SRI holds an annual, national meeting in a different city. In the 2014-2015 school year we hosted the annual winter meeting here in Tucson, in 2015-2016 we sent one teacher to the annual meeting in Miami, and last year, CITY Center sent a six-person team to the SRI winter meeting in Denver.
This school year, the School Reform Initiative’s national gathering is a ‘Fall Meeting’ (on November 2-4) in Atlanta and CITY Center for Collaborative Learning is sending Executive Director Carrie Brennan and PD Center Director Santo Nicotera. Carrie serves on the SRI Board of Directors (which will be meeting together as part of the national meeting) and she will be participating in one of the SRI ‘learning communities’ at the Fall Meeting. Santo will be facilitating one of these learning communities throughout the Fall Meeting.
Registration for the ‘Fall meeting is still open. Join us if you can. Register here.
