Register your team (up to 6 members) for Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support: School-Wide Systems for Student Success! In this ongoing, expert training, your school-based team will work together to build (or enhance) a proactive system for supporting positive student behavior throughout your site (school, library, park district program, or youth center).
School-Wide Systems for Student Success is a six-day training in Tier 1 Positive Behavior Interventions and Support (PBIS). Training dates for the 2018-2019 school year are:
- September 6-7; 8:00-3:30
- November 1-2; 8:00-3:30
- April 4-5; 8:00-3:30
Teams register once for all dates and should plan on attending every training. At the end of every session, your team will have designed a portion of a Tier 1 PBIS system ready to present to staff and pilot in your school or site. And, by the end of the last session, your team will have designed a complete Tier 1 PBIS system ready to implement in the fall.
What is PBIS?
PBIS stands for Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports, and is a multi-tiered system of support that boosts positive behavior throughout your school. This training equips teams to build systems that reduce the amount of time teachers and school leaders manage unexpected and challenging behaviors.
Who should be on our team?
School-based teams should have at least two teachers, the principal or assistant principal, and a special education teacher. Other organizations (libraries, park districts, youth centers) should bring their site leader and the staff that work with directly with youth.
We already do PBIS. Do we need to come?
Teams that already have a strong foundation in PBIS will assess their systems, data, and practices and identify opportunities to enhance their school-wide PBIS programs.
What funding sources are available?
Teams have used Title 1 funds and funds budgeted for professional development.
