This year we are expanding our annual Pennington Street Showcase to be a multi-event series! The first one will be the ‘arts and culture edition’ and feature a fashion runway show narrated in Spanish, a jazz club featuring musician stories from the segregated South in the 1940’s and 1950’s, DNA lp’s, classical guitar, modern dance, scenes from To Kill A Mockingbird, and an art gallery and print sale.
This event is a public demonstration of student learning. The Pennington Street Showcase allows students from our three schools – City High School and the Paulo Freire Freedom Schools – to share their rigorous, authentic, and real-world learning and understanding with a public audience.
The first Pennington Street Showcase of the year takes place December 13 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at our downtown campus, in the new collaborative learning center at next door at City High School and PFFS-Downtown. Families and the community are invited to attend. The event is free. Come join us for an engaging and fun evening of student excellence!
