The Pennington Street Showcase is a multi-event series. The first showcase in the 2019-2020 school year is an ‘arts and culture’ edition of the showcase and features a fashion runway show narrated in Spanish, a jazz club featuring musician stories from the segregated South in the 1940’s and 1950’s, DNA lp’s, classical guitar, modern dance, scenes from To Kill A Mockingbird, and an art gallery and print sale.
The Pennington Street Showcase is a public demonstration of student learning. It allows students from our three schools – City High School and the Paulo Freire Freedom Schools – to share their rigorous, authentic, and real-world learning and understanding with a public audience. The first Pennington Street Showcase of the 2019-2020 school year was on January 31 at our downtown campus, in our collaborative learning center next door to City High School and PFFS-Downtown. Families and the community attended.
The Pennington Street Showcase is a free public event.
